brown Thomas ad
As part of Brown Thomas' brand refresh, we were asked to present for Creative Director Kasia Ozmin of Together We Create by replacing the current Cara Ad to attract new customers to their unique shopping experience.
The aim was to integrate an exterior shot of the Grafton Street Store with bright, colourful CGI balloons and must feature a special welcome from the doorman. It must capture the luxury and excitement you get when shopping at Brown Thomas.
The final result shows a bright, energetic finish which provides a warm welcome to the Brown Thomas store and can be seen in print and editorial venues.
BREAKDOWN
Rough concept art provided by client
Using the balloons, we needed to show pure excitement and joy escaping the Brown Thomas store.
The balloon garlands had to look and feel realistic and organic in shape and must cover a spectrum of vivid colours and sizes. We were asked to ensure that the balloons were intertwined with each other to give it a unique and intriguing shape with each colour stream having various tones and interesting colourways. The final appearance of the balloons must be matte in texture and not shiny for a more luxurious aesthetics.

Working with Photographer Trevor Hart, a clean crisp image of the front of the store was provided (it was important that the building was aesthetically beautiful, showing architectural details), along with images of balloons coming out of the entrance as part-installation to be used as references. Our task was to ensure that the CGI balloons integrated seamlessly into the scene, floating at the best angle.

To create the desired effect, the Mash Editor was used which enabled each balloon to be distributed to a proxy mesh. This was the most effective and fastest workflow for the placement of the balloons which was then tweaked to meet client specifications.
